3/14/2024 0 Comments Lamb and okra stewThe stew is naturally thick and hearty due to the okra, and there’s a lot of variations. This Okra meat stew is a very commonly eaten Middle Eastern dish, an okra stew made with okra, tomatoes and usually lamb, but I use beef in this recipe. What is bamia?īamia is an Arabic word translating to okra. It also cuts down on cook time significantly. You’ll be able to follow this very easily! Cooking the meat in a pressure cooker like an Instant pot makes it so tender and melt in your mouth. This is the best recipe ever, broken down into really simple steps. It often has meat too, but can be made vegetarian. Interestingly enough, the word for okra (gnaouia) comes from the word Ghana, where the vegetable is thought to have originated.Bamia is a classic Middle Eastern okra stew made with okra in a tomato sauce. Gnaouia, a Tunisian okra stew, is also very similar to okra stew, although it does not use red palm oil. Inspired by this vegetarian dish, you could also try to make a Ghanaian style okra stew with whole okra pods, served on a bed of quinoa or steamed millet for a protein packed meal. In other parts of the world such as the Middle East, okra stew such as bamya is made by sautéeing whole okra pods in a tomato based sauce. In the rest of West Africa, the okra stew (or okro stew) and its variants take the names of sauce gombo, fetri dessi (Togo), mana rozi, sauce kopè (Ivory Coast), ou encore soupou kandja (Sénégal). The Central African name for okra suggests that these stews are closely related to the Creole dish called gumbo, popular in Louisiana. Fante fante has flavors reminiscent of the Brazilian Bahian fish stew called moqueca, without the coconut milk. Fresh fish is added and steamed in the stew, then finally a small amount of okro is added to finish off the dish. A juicy palm oil stew is made with onions and tomatoes. As the name suggests, this stew comes from the Fante people of Ghana. Fetri detsi, an Ewe dish from the Volta region of Ghana, is the perfect example of this.Īnother stew which follows a similar process and ingredients to okra stew is fante fante. Okra can be cooked without tomatoes, where the okra is chopped or finely grated, oil is rarely used, more water is added, and the resulting sauce is more of a soup. The different versions of okro stew around the world To make an impressive dish, a completely seafood okra topped with crabs or a lobster tail will impress your dinner guests. Chicken is rarely used however smoked turkey has been tried and tested. Meat such as beef, lamb, pork, goat, cow foot and ham hock go well with okra stew. When the stew has such a fine and viscous consistency, it is sometimes referred to as “draw” soup with draw describing the slimy viscosity of the soup. This encourages the sliminess of the okra to come out even more. To achieve this, the okra is finely chopped or even grated, then cooked with slightly more added water. Others prefer their okra stew with a highly viscous consistency. Some people like their okra less slimy and still intact, therefore cooking time is reduced, or the okra is cut into larger chunks. The cooking time varies according to preference. Some people steam the okra prior to adding, which results in a sauce that is more viscous, whilst others add the raw okra without pre-cooking. Once the tomato stew base has cooked and broken down into a sauce, an assortment of meat, seafood or both is added. Other seasonings such as chicken stock cube or shrimp seasoning can be used to enhance the flavor. The first step is to make a tomato stew base with red palm oil, onions, tomatoes, tomato purée (optional), garlic, ginger and peppers. Making okra stew for the first time may seem daunting, however the process is fairly easy to follow. It is possible that Ethiopia has been referenced in times past, however the exact location did not relate to modern day Ethiopia, but rather West and Central Africa. It is interesting to note, however, that an old Herman Moll (1710 AD) map of Africa depicts Ethiopia as a vast country spreading from the Biafra region and modern-day Cameroon in West Africa and North of Congo to just West and South of modern-day Somalia and Ethiopia respectively. Okra is thought to be of African origin, particularly West Africa or Ethiopia, although others believe it has origins within South Asia. Okra stew comes in many forms and consistencies, from fairly slimy to almost soupy, and can be mixed with other vegetables such as garden eggs, or left simply as okra stew. The main components of okro stew are a tomato stew base made with red palm fruit oil, onions, tomatoes, spices and finely chopped okra. Okro stew (or okra stew) is one of the best accompaniments to banku, one of Ghana’s national dishes.

By default, when you type text at the end of a threaded text frame based on a parent page, a new page is added, allowing you to continue typing in the new text frame. Or you can find out if and what spacemacs binds that to by doing C-h f text-scale-adjust (not sure if spacemacs binds describe-function to C-h f or something else). You can use Smart Text Reflow to add or remove pages automatically as you type and edit text. Then click in the frame using the Type tool and begin typing. If you need to type text in a primary text frame on a document page, hold down Ctrl+Shift (Windows) or Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you click the text frame on the document page. You can thread these empty placeholder frames together to establish a flow.įlow text into primary text frames using the same procedures you would use with frames created on document pages. Whether or not you select the Primary Text Frame option, you can add text frames to a parent page to act as placeholders. If your document requires more variation, such as pages with different numbers of frames or frames of different lengths, leave the Primary Text Frame option deselected, and use the Type tool to create text frames on parents. Set primary text frames when you want each page in your document to contain a page-sized text frame into which you can flow or type your text. If a text frame includes more overset text than can reasonably fit on the page, the text frame isn’t resized. Tip: You can also double-click a handle on an overset text frame to expand the height or width to fit all text in the frame. If you double-click the center right handle, the height is preserved while the width narrows to fill the frame. For example, if you double-click the center bottom handle, the bottom of the frame snaps to the bottom of the text. To quickly fit the frame to its content, use the Selection tool to select the text frame, and double-click any handle. Hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS) to scale the text within the frame. To resize using the Selection tool, drag any of the frame handles on the frame’s border. Note: If you click the text frame instead of dragging it, you’ll lose your text selection or insertion point location. If you hold down the mouse button for one second before you begin dragging, the text will recompose while you resize the frame. To resize using the Type tool, hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS), and drag any frame handle. 3/14/2024 0 Comments Gish rat bull mascotLadies v neck, unisex, tank: $2,509.53 $14.99įrom all the way back in 2018, this semi-vintage Rebel with a Cause shirt is so you. “You’re putting videos in the book? In the B Section, the landmarks are I (or III if you like to think of C/E as Em) and VI and the second half of this section is a classic Slow Launcher (II7 followed by V7, two bars each). He preceded the Bb7 with B7 in bar 5, making an even longer chain of secondary dominants. Instead he makes a chain of secondary dominants and plays Bb7 A7 Dm. The A7 approaching Dm at bar 6 is often broken down into E-7b5 A7 but Evans does not not do this. The other chords I’ve written are the secondary dominants indicated by the use of arrows (resolving round the cycle) or dashed arrows (resolving down a semitone): Ab7 leads to G7 (it is a tritone sub of D7) C7 leads to F A7 leads to Dm D#o represents B7b9 leading to Em (which is what Cmaj7/E sounds like if the C is not included. So, the A Section has landmarks of I, V, I, IV and II. All discussed before in other blog articles here. After that we might allow secondary dominants and their associated II chords. If we imagine harmonising this song from scratch ourselves, we might start with only allowing I, IV and V and then after that allow diatonic substitutions. destinations or resting points or the original three chords, I, IV and V. If you look at the Roman numerals I have added, I have only added what I consider to be the landmarks in the key, i.e. The repeat sign I scribbled at the end of B means go back to the top but take the C section rather than B section. I’ve been lazy and have not written the second A out. Here is my scribbled analysis, based on a combination of the standard changes and what Evans played. The form is ABAC, a song of two halves, all sections 8 bars long as usual. If you don’t know this fabulous song, here is my playlist.
